Get Started

First Step - Call The Home Ownership Center for Foreclosure Prevention Assistance. When you call we will immediately connect you to a counselor who will conduct an Initial Intake. The call will take approximately 15 minutes.

Please be ready to provide the following information:

  • Your current mortgage information (lender name, loan number, balance due)
  • Length of time you have owned the property
  • The number of household members residing in the home

Second Step - After the initial intake is completed The Home Ownership Center will schedule you for a FREE Foreclosure Prevention Clinic which is held weekly. Forms requesting additional information will be mailed to you and should be return at the clinic.

Third Step - Attending the FREE Foreclosure Prevention Clinic you will learn:

  • Foreclosure Timelines
  • What's required to submit a Foreclosure Packet
  • Tips when talking to your lender
  • Budgeting and Savings
  • Foreclosure Definitions
Following the clinic a thorough review of all documents submitted will be completed by The Home Ownership Center Foreclosure Staff. You will be contacted by mail or phone to discuss the best option suited for your situation.

Phone-A-Thon

The Home Ownership Center is sponsoring a Foreclosure Prevention Phone-A-Thon on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in partnership with CET and Channel 9.  This event is designed for your convenience – you can call in from the privacy of your home with no hassles to receive the maximum support.

Foreclosure Prevention Clinics

The Ohio Rescue Program offered by The Home Ownership Center of Greater Cincinnati, Inc. (HOC) is designed to assist owner occupied households in need of:

  • A Repayment plan- an arrangement to pay back your
    past due balance on your mortgage loan
  • A Loan modification to modify the terms of your mortgage loan
  • Refinance your current mortgage loan
  • Forbearance agreement to reduce or suspend mortgage
    payments for a short time
  • Rescue funds to apply towards mortgage payments due
    and closing costs for refinance
  • Deed-in-lieu of foreclosure to voluntarily return the home
    to the lender
  • Short sale agreement with the bank  to sell property
    for less than what is owed.
  • Partial Claim to work with mortgage insurer to pay back
    past due balance

As with any program, there are necessary requirements that you must meet in order to receive assistance.  The HOC will review those requirements at our foreclosure prevention clinics and assist you in completing the required documents.

These clinics are provided as a way for you to receive technical assistance and support for an interaction with your lender.

Clinics-Directions

The orientation clinics will be held Friday, June 20 from 9am-9pm and again on Saturday, June 21 from 9am-7pm at Xavier University (Carl J. Alter Hall). There will be signs identifying the location and free parking.

Traveling to Xavier going north or south on I-75
  • Take I-75 north/south to Norwood Rt. 562 (Exit #7) going east.
  • Take second exit, Rt. 42, Reading Road
  • Turn right off exit.
  • Turn left at the third light onto Victory Parkway .
  • Turn left at the third light onto Dana Avenue
  • Take a left at the stone-wall entrance onto University Drive .
Traveling to Xavier going north on I-71
  • Take I-71 north to Dana Avenue/Montgomery Road Exit #5.
  • Turn left onto Duck Creek Road
  • At the second stop light, turn left onto Dana Avenue
  • After the fourth stop light (at Ledgewood Dr . ), turn right at the second street, University Dr . , which is recognizable by a stone-wall entrance.
Traveling to Xavier going south on I-71
  • Take I-71 south to Dana Avenue Exit #5.
  • Turn right off the exit.
  • After the third stop light (at Ledgewood Dr . ) turn right at the second street, University D r. , which is recognizable by a stone-wall entrance.

Clinics- Checklist

In order to assist you in saving your home, we will need you to provide certain documentation for our review.  Please bring a COPY of each of the following documents to the Foreclosure Prevention Clinic:
  • Provide proof of income:
    • Employed
      • W2's from past two years
      • Last 30 days of consecutive paystubs
    • Self-Employed
      • Last 2 years complete tax returns
      • Last 2 years 1099 statements
    • Retired
      • Retirement awards letter
      • Social security awards letter
      • Last 2 months bank statements showing direct deposit into checking or savings account
    • Disabled
      • Social security statement (SSI) or any other disability statement
    • Other
      • Child support court order with 12 month activity statement
  • Provide most recent payment statement/history from your lender to include:
    • Balance owed and the amount of delinquency
    • Current mortgage payment
    • A written copy of any payment arrangement or workout plan you have already made with your lender
  • Provide most recent statement for:
    • Checking or Savings (last 2 months)
    • 401-K, CDs, IRAs and/or Other investment annuities
  • Provide a copy of your most current homeowner's insurance renewal statement to include:
    • Current policy date
    • Total amount of coverage
    • Annual premium
